Fiestas Patronales Iznajar 2017

Every year at the start of September (2nd week) Iznajar celebrates the Fiesta’s Patronales. It is one of the biggest nights in Iznajars Calender.

The whole town turns out, attracting hundreds from the surrounding area for a 4-day celebration. It is a religious based celebration, and most Spanish towns tend to have a Patron Saint day like this.

Friday about 1pm is the Flamenco Dress parade where people dressed up in traditional costume come to lay flowers at the statue of Mary in the church. At night from about 8pm, Mary is carried (a privilege for those selected) through the streets of Iznajar where crowds carry illuminated candles.

The streets of Iznajar is illuminated with colourful light, there are fair ground rides and attractions, and dancing until 5am on Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights.

Here are a few snaps from this Fiesta, a must time to visit Iznajar.

VIDEO: GARDEN Summer 2017

Taken in July 2017, this video highlights the Garden.

The garden has two sun lounges with a large sun umbrella for those who want to take in the rural surroundings.

The grapes, bougainvillea, lavender and thyme are thriving. The new fruit trees look like they are doing well, and the peach tree is fruiting although the birds are getting to it before I can. The bougainvillea, hibiscus and the roses are currently blooming.

The Garden June 2017

Some new shots that were taken in the Garden in May & June 2017. It’s an ever-changing landscape of flowers and plants blooming and growing.

The new fruit trees seem to be doing well, the palms are growing, the grapevine is producing fruit and the newly planted hibiscus keeps sharing its beauty with is with vibrant yellow flowers.

You can enjoy the garden on one of the sunbeds under a huge umbrella that will offer shade from the sun, or sit on one of the many little alcoves.

At night the garden is illuminated.

La Noria Knitting Festival 2017

The Lanoria Knitting festival is an annual event held in Iznajar and is one of the most unique things I have seen.

Just look at the photos below, and realise that almost everything you see there has been knitted!

The Carousel, the ferris wheel, the decorations and even the flags are all knitted creations.

Held annually before Easter, the knitting is on display for a couple of months, and this years display really has out done themselves!

Pergola Sun Deck

The Pergola Sun Deck is the perfect place to sit with a drink, enjoy breakfast, have a conversation or just cruise the internet.

The hard wearing furniture comes in movable modules, so it can be organised to suit yourself. Connect it all together and put your feet up, or create the perfect place to chat to family or friends.

Enjoy sunrise, sunsets, cocktails or afternoon tea, as the deck will get the sun most of the day as it moves across the sky.

Garden Update April 2017

Went out to Casa Blanca De Iznajar for Easter, and in that time weeded the garden (it’s a constant battle, although some of the weed flowers can be quite beautiful), checked on the new fruit and nut trees and planted a new hibiscus (yellow this time) and bougainvillaea. Tried to plant some poppies too, although I won’t know how well they will take until I am out there next.

Anyway, a picture says a thousand words and here are the latest pics.
